FMM Webinar on Understanding & Handling Sexual Harassment at the Workplace

Programme Details

INTRODUCTION

SEXUAL HARASSMENT is a common occurrence at the workplace. However, many instances of sexual harassment are not detected or recognised by the management. In view of the lack of legal provisions, many employers failed or are reluctant to take disciplinary action against the perpetrators of sexual harassment. The government viewed sexual harassment seriously and in 2012, the Employment Act was amended to define sexual harassment and includes provisions for employers to comply with the law as well as the Code of Practice on Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace. Employers have the responsibility of implementing the relevant law and its policies and procedures to ensure compliance in the event of a complaint of sexual harassment from their employees.

 OBJECTIVES

v  Understand the provisions of the law
